ABOUT OUR BOXERS

Our dogs come to us for various reasons, whether from owners unable to care for them, concerned citizens finding strays, or shelters. Regardless of their background, we provide love, attention, vet care, and proper nutrition. Some dogs come with a known history, while others arrive with uncertainty and fear about their situation.

WHAT TO (AND NOT TO) EXPECT FROM A RESCUE BOXER

Rescue boxers may not be perfectly trained or obedient. If you seek a “perfect” boxer, a rescue might not meet those expectations. Our mission is to serve boxers in need and find them homes committed to their well-being, treating them as cherished family members. While not perfect, rescue boxers offer unconditional love.

We currently have waiting lists for young healthy dogs. If you’re willing to wait, proceed with the application. For those wanting a quicker adoption, consider a senior or special needs boxer.

OUR VIEWS AND POLICIES REGARDING ADOPTION

Our dogs are not outdoor pets due to boxers being people-oriented and at risk when left alone outside. Many have experienced trauma; our foster homes evaluate each dog to ensure the right match for both dog and adopter. Consider energy levels, quirks, habits, likes, and dislikes.

We encourage applicants familiar with the breed, health issues, and boxer personality. If unfamiliar, research is recommended.

WHY SUCH A STRONG POSITION?

We’ve experienced instances of returns due to lack of investment or unaddressed behavioral problems. Our contract prohibits giving away, selling, euthanizing, or abandoning a dog obtained from us. The only acceptable reasons for return involve safety or the owner’s inability to care for the dog.

If you’re considering a dog you might return or only partly commit to, our rescues may not be suitable. Reflect on the responsibility and commitment required, considering the plight of abandoned dogs.
