Wrigley- 4 Years old – Undergoing Evaluation

$400.00

Dog’s Name: Wrigley

Dog’s Approximate Age: 4 Years old

Gender: Female

Dog’s Size: Pocket Boxer (under 50lbs as adult and healthy weight).

Dog’s Weight: 36 pounds.

Tail?: Full (long)

Good with small dogs?: After a few weeks of having Wrigley in our house, she did have issues with our smallest dog, a male pug. She went after him a couple of times and we found that it seemed to be in that Wrigley didn’t want to share the attention of her foster mom with him. After telling her firmly “no” and putting her in her kennel, there hasn’t been an issue again. I do not think it is a small dog intolerance.

Good with big dogs?: Great! Loves our male Pitbull mix and our neighbor’s black lab.

Good with cats?: Has not been cat tested.

Good with kids?: Yes, has met an 8-year-old girl and she was curious and friendly.

Any medical issues?: Heartworm positive, undergoing treatment, right rear leg has an old cruciate ligament tear, surgery not recommended due to the amount of scar tissue and swelling in the knee. She gets around with no issues but will need to remain on a joint supplement and likely and NSAID or other pain medication lifelong. Recent head tilt, being treated for a suspected inner ear infection.

Crate trained?: Yes.

House trained?: Yes.

Heartworms?: Yes.

4/9/2025:  Woof woof! Wrigley here, reporting from my fabulous foster home! I’m wagging my tail like crazy because life is pretty pawsome. My foster mom is the best, and there’s another human around who’s pretty cool too—though I must admit, I’m a bit of a ladies’ pup.

Chewing on tuffy toys is my jam, especially the rubbery ones. They feel amazing on my teef! Last week was a bit ruff because I got my first heartworm treatment injection. It was a stressful time, but I’m handling the meds like a champ. My foster mom mentioned that the steroids make me drink a lot of water and need more potty breaks. But guess what? I’m so clever that I hop out of my kennel bed at night to use the potty pad. She says it’ll get better as I taper off the steroids, and I’ll be able to hold my bladder for longer periods again.

New people can be a bit scary at first, but once I figure out you’re here to shower me with love, I’m all about those full-body wags. I’ll leap into your lap and smother you with kisses—just let me know how many you’re up for! Walks are fun, but when it comes to doing my business, I’m not a fan of pooping on a leash. I prefer the privacy of a fenced yard for my #2 moments.

I’m a lap dog at heart and dream of a home where I’m welcome on the couch. Playing with my foster brother is a blast, so I’d probably be happiest with another canine buddy once I’m back to full health and ready to play again.

Paws crossed for a bright future!

1/31/2025:  Woof! Hello there! I’m Wrigley, but you can call me “Wriggles” or “Wiggly Wrigley” because I just can’t help but wag my entire body when I see my new foster parents! They think I’m a delightful boxer/beagle mix, tipping the scales at a sprightly 35 pounds. I was found wandering the streets of South Carolina with a bit of a bum leg, but don’t let that fool you—it doesn’t slow me down one bit! I still love to romp around and play with my foster brother.

My first visit to the vet was a breeze—I was the perfect patient! I was so thrilled to be surrounded by people, even if they did give me a few pokes. They mentioned something about heartworms, which might mean more visits to those lovely folks, but honestly, I feel as fit as a fiddle! I am over the moon to have humans I can shower with kisses and affection.

Peanut butter in kong toys? Yes, please! I’ve been on a quest to find the coziest dog bed in my new home, but so far, nothing beats sprawling out on my foster mom’s lap, especially when she’s doling out belly rubs. I’m still a bit shy around my foster dad, but I’m warming up to him too—though I must admit, I have a soft spot for the ladies.

I’m proud to say I’m fully crate trained and sleep soundly in my crate at night—it’s my little sanctuary. I’m eagerly looking forward to more leisurely strolls and snuggles as I get healthier and prepare for my forever home. Life is just one big tail-wagging adventure!
