Shane Gentry founded Sally Said So Dog Training in 2009 because of his love of dogs. He has been fascinated with communicating with animals since he was a child, but he took a circuitous path to becoming a dog trainer. In a former career in construction, Shane experienced an injury that altered his professional path. Instead of letting the setback determine his future, he took the opportunity to start over with a new career. He began his education and journey to becoming a dog trainer and pieced together the “why” and “how” of training dogs. He believes that 90% of what we do works on 90% of dogs, 90% of the time. The other 10% of training is what separates Sally Said So from other dog trainers. In his free time, Shane enjoys disc golf and telling dad jokes (though his kids hate them!). He is also a musician.
Sally Said So offers private in-home training and also works with foster dogs in rescue, helping them be the best dog they can be. Shane says “we have an ultimate respect for anyone who is willing to partner with us. We will always respect our clients’ time. Everything that we do is in the home. “Educated humans make great dogs.”- this is why we don’t drop and go like other trainers.” Sally Said So has a flat rate service that covers your dog for life, with unlimited group classes for life and a lifetime behavior promise.
Unique services:
Pre-purchase/adoption puppy consultation service- Sally Said So trainers can help to act as dog matchmakers. They will work with you to find out what breeds might fit your lifestyle and family, and then help you locate a dog through a breeder or rescue. They then will help to temperament test the dog to make sure they would be a good fit, and help with acclimating them into your home.
Expecting mothers canine preparation course- In the months leading up to the birth of a new child, the trainer will come into your home and teach your dog(s) skills such as place (calming on command without a crate), then start to trigger the place command with everyday movements that you would make with a new baby in the house. They also will teach your dog boundaries such as not being able to go into the baby’s room and how to get attention in a productive way. This training helps to set your dog, the mom and the baby up for success!
Doggy Weddings: Sally Said So offers fully planned weddings for dogs to get married. Everything from a spa day, say yes to the dress. rehearsal dinner, vows, and honeymoon can be planned at a local doggy daycare. To help rescues, they ask guests to bring a bag of dog food to donate!
Cat Training: This is a new service Sally Said So is offering. The trainer will come into your home to help cats and dogs live together harmoniously, and can also help your cats deal with behavior issues through enrichments that are missing in their environment. This service is currently booking for the 1st of the year.
