2/7/2025:  Hey there, I’m Abe, the not-so-nimble but oh-so-happy pooch working on my beach bod! After a little knee tune-up, I’m back to learning the joys of playing and strutting my stuff. Picture me as a friendly polar bear at the zoo: I may lumber around with glee, but I’m all about the love, not the speed.

I’m the perfect buddy for those without a yard—laid back and chill, I promise not to redecorate your living room while you’re away. I’ve made friends with the neighborhood dogs and humans alike, always curious but never causing a fuss.

These days, I’m enjoying more walks and adore the great outdoors, though I’m just as happy lounging at home. While I do better with a few shorter strolls, I’m gradually tackling longer ones too. I’m a pro on the leash, and a gentle tug is all it takes to grab my attention since my hearing isn’t what it used to be. When it comes to food, I’m a bit of a connoisseur, but treats? Oh, I never say no to those!

1/15/2026:  Hey there, I’m Abe! Don’t let my “chill” face in photos fool you—I’m one happy camper! I’m the sweetest, kindest, and gentlest boxer you’ll ever meet. My face lights up, my tail wags like crazy, and my butt does a little dance whenever I meet a new friend, go for a walk, or see my human come home. I’ve been a brave pup, recovering for six long months from two TPLO surgeries, but my enthusiasm is still as strong as ever.

I dream of a forever home with a nice fence where I can run, explore, and stay safe. Since I can’t hear, those big metal boxes on wheels (humans call them cars) don’t scare me one bit! So, quieter streets are my jam—sometimes I even imagine racing those cars! If you adopt me, I promise to fill your heart with all the love and gratitude a dog can give. 🐾❤️

8/26/2024:  Abe’s name should be Mr. Happy. Abe came to CBR with a leg injury the weekend of Memorial Day. He had several vet evaluations resulting in surgery. Throughout the entire process, he’s been easy going, loving and full of joy. His favorite thing is people – he wants to greet everyone, get scratched and acknowledged. Abe is deaf (I still talk to him all the time), so he does have a little anxiety when left alone. He’ll bark for a minute and then find his bed or the couch. He might do a little counter surfing or exploring if he’s home alone so don’t leave the garbage unattended! Abe has been with me for almost 3 months and just yesterday, brought me a stuffed ball to play fetch for the first time! Abe’s good on walks, he’s up to 30 minutes twice a day for rehab. He loves to smell everything – so important for a deaf dog to experience the world. He’d love a yard to be able to run but also to lay/relax and enjoy the sunshine. He may not look like he’s smiling in his pictures, but he is grinning and wagging that tail all day long!
