12/19/2024:  Woof woof! Let me introduce you to the one and only Buster, a truly unique little bully mix with a personality as spunky as a squirrel on caffeine! Despite facing some physical challenges from a traumatic back injury, Buster is a sweet, happy boy who never fails to bring smiles to everyone around him.

Now, Buster’s got a bit of a quirky situation with his potty habits—due to his injury, he experiences frequent urinary and fecal incontinence. But don’t worry, we’ve got a routine down to a science! He needs regular access to the great outdoors because sometimes nature calls without warning. Even then, he might sprinkle while he walks or leave a surprise in his sleep. During those extra exciting moments, like waking up or mealtime, he sports a belly band to keep things in check.

His spinal injury gives him a bit of back-end wobble and decreased sensation in his back legs, but that doesn’t slow him down! Buster hops around like a bunny on a mission, especially when he’s playing. Stairs? No problem, as long as there’s room for his signature hop-hop-hop and a clear path for his descent.

Affectionately known as “Busted” or “Bowling Ball,” this goofy guy loves nothing more than romping around with his 1-year-old foster fur sibling. Whether it’s a game of chase or a friendly “mouth war,” Buster’s infectious joy will keep you laughing and on your toes. His mischievous antics are balanced by a loving nature that makes every moment with him pure delight.

Buster has a soft spot for hot baths, finding bliss in warm water—it’s his version of a spa day! He’s even been known to join his humans in the shower, thinking back and shoulder massages are the ultimate treat. And when it comes to food, Buster eats with a passion that rivals a gourmet chef at a buffet!

If your heart is as big as Buster’s and you’re ready to welcome a sweet, spirited boy who will love you unconditionally, then you simply must meet this resilient, adaptable pup. He doesn’t let his special needs hold him back one bit!

6/3/2024:  Sweet Buster has settled in well to his foster home. At first, we thought all the big dogs here overwhelmed him. Nope! He can run with the pack. He plays and plays and plays with all of them, including one three times his size. As much as he likes to play, he’s also happy to snuggle up in your lap for snuggles. He loves to follow around his humans and lives for snacks.  Buster has scoliosis, or a curved spine. He has an extra vertebra in one part of his spine and is short one in another part of it. This is due to genetics, according to the vet. This impacts his back legs somewhat, making him a bit clumsy. It also causes one side of his rib cage to be slightly longer than the other, which sometimes makes his left side/abdomen appear to jut out a bit. He doesn’t let any of this slow him down though! When he starts running fast, he just hops like a bunny. The vet said it shouldn’t get worse, though he may develop arthritis later in life. Buster just finished a round of antibiotics for a nasty UTI, and we’re working on housetraining now. He gets neutered in a few weeks.

5/19/2024: Meet Buster, a little dude with a big personality. He is some combination of Pug/Frenchie/Boxer…. who knows! But with his smushed face and tiny snorts, he’s 100% adorable. He weighs in at 25 lbs. and is full grown. Buster has something going on with his back legs and what feels like a mass or swelling on the left side of his abdomen. We’ll get him checked out at the vet this week.  Buster likes to play with the other pups but gets a little overwhelmed because of his size in the pack of four big dogs in his foster home. He does best with just a few at a time or with the most passive of the pack. He prefers not to share his food or high value toys but otherwise is great with males and female dogs.
