Dog’s Name: Clint
Dog’s Approximate Age: 8 – 9 years
Gender: Male
Dog’s Size: Large (70lbs plus as adult and healthy weight)
Dog’s Weight: 75
Tail: Docked (Short)
Good with small dogs?: Currently lives with a small female yorkie and doesn’t pay her much attention but will react when she challenges him.
Good with big dogs?: Seems to be good with all dogs once introduced, but likely best with passive males/females. He has two large dog neighbors on both sides who like to bark at him when he’s out, but he really couldn’t care less about them and wonders what they are fussing about. He will rarely bark back – but I think he’s just telling them to shut up!
Good with cats?: Has not been cat tested.
Good with kids?: Clint lives with 2 adults, one 18-year-old, and one 13-year-old. Understandably he was cautious/suspicious of us at first, but it didn’t take him long to learn who we were and how we fit into his new world. He can be guarded/cautious/suspicious of anyone new coming into his domain and looks to us to reassure him that visitors are ok. He doesn’t seem to have any trouble being out in social settings with large groups of people. We will test more once he’s fully healed from surgery…
Any medical issues?: Clint had surgery Nov 25th to have 5 masses removed. His wounds are healing well, and he is already back to his energetic self. The masses were benign/low-grade with only 4% chance of returning…
Crate trained?: Working on it.
House trained?: Yes.
Heartworms?: Yes.
12/14/2024: From Clint’s perspective, life is quite the adventure! This burly fellow, with his deep, authoritative bark, is as headstrong as they come, yet beneath that rugged exterior lies a heart as gentle as a summer breeze. Clint has mastered a repertoire of impressive commands like “sit,” “shake,” and “lay down,” showcasing his sharp intellect. When it’s mealtime, he patiently waits, eyes gleaming with anticipation, until he hears the magic word that releases him to his feast.
Clint is a leash-walking aficionado, sometimes even taking the initiative to “walk himself” by proudly holding the leash in his mouth. His love for the outdoors is boundless, whether it’s a leisurely half-mile stroll, a quick jaunt to check the mail, or simply basking in the sunshine. When called, he’s usually responsive, though there are moments when Clint’s independent spirit takes over, and he decides to follow his own agenda.
Rarely does he jump, except on those joyous occasions when a family member returns after a long absence—especially the 18-year-old, whose presence he sorely misses. In those moments, Clint’s excitement is palpable as he eagerly greets them with an up-close inspection.
Affectionate by nature, Clint is always on the lookout for a quick pat on the head. He delights in having the top of his nub scratched, often backing up his rear end to ensure you get the right spot. Personal space is a foreign concept to Clint; he follows his humans everywhere, eager to be part of every moment.
Clint’s playful growl might sound menacing to the untrained ear, but rest assured, it’s all in good fun. He never crosses the line and knows when to stop, proving his gentle nature. Potty breaks are a breeze, and he sleeps soundly through the night, preferably nestled close to his beloved humans. While he’s not a fan of chewing, he’s perfectly content to curl up on his living room bed, dozing with the TV murmuring in the background.
Since his surgery, Clint has been adjusting to life outside the confines of his crate, thanks to the cumbersome donut around his neck. Though he’s not keen on returning to his crate just yet, he’s slowly becoming accustomed to the idea.
Despite his age, Clint is brimming with vitality, love, and energy. Once he warms up to you, he’s nothing short of a big teddy bear, ready to play, jump, and run with the exuberance of a pup.
11/5/2024: Howdy, folks! Name’s Clint, and I’m one tail-waggin’, fun-lovin’ pup on the lookout for my forever family. Picture this: a laid-back, easygoing boy with a heart as big as the Texas sky, just waiting to share it with you.
My foster family has been teaching me the ropes, and let me tell ya, I’m getting better every day. Foster mom takes me on these things called “walks”—at first, I was a bit puzzled, but now I strut my stuff like a pro. I started with just a block, but now I’m struttin’ my paws for half a mile a day!
I share my digs with some respectful kiddos, and let me tell ya, they’re a hoot! Plus, there’s this little Yorkie in the mix. After a proper howdy-do, we’ve become the best of pals. I love nothing more than catching some rays and zooming around the backyard like a silly ol’ dog.
Now, here’s the lowdown: I’m not too keen on being pushed or pulled around. I’ll give you a gentle nudge if I’m feelin’ uncomfortable, so I’d do best in a home where the young’uns know how to give me my space and respect my boundaries.
I’m a big ol’ boy with a heart to match, ready to snuggle up on the couch with my forever family. Can’t wait to meet y’all! ❤
