Can’t Keep Your Boxer? Let Us Help You Keep Them.
We know life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes, despite our best intentions, personal hardship, financial struggles, or unexpected life changes can make it feel impossible to continue caring for your beloved boxer.
Before you consider surrendering your dog, we want you to know: you’re not alone, and help is available.
At Carolina Boxer Rescue (CBR), we’re not just here to take in dogs—we’re here to support the people who love them. If you’re facing a tough season and want to explore every option to keep your boxer at home, we can help you find the resources to do just that.
Financial Assistance & Support Resources
Here are some common challenges and where you can turn for help:
- Pet Food Assistance Programs
If you’re struggling to afford your dog’s food, there are organizations that offer free or discounted pet food. Some of those organizations include: PetSmart Charities, Pet Help Finder and Feeding Pets of the Homeless. - Help With Vet Bills
Vet care can be expensive, especially in an emergency. There are nonprofit organizations and veterinary clinics that offer grants, sliding scale pricing, or payment plans to cover medical care for your pet. Go to RedRover Relief for more information. - Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Services
If you’re holding off on surgery due to cost, there are low-cost clinics across North and South Carolina and Virginia. Enter your zip code at SpayUSA and find a low-cost clinic near you. - Training Support
Behavioral issues can sometimes make life at home overwhelming. Affordable training programs or online resources can make a world of difference—we’re happy to recommend trainers or techniques that have worked for others in the CBR family.
Your boxer is family. If keeping them is what you want, we’ll do everything we can to help you make that happen.
If Surrender Is the Best Option, We’re Still Here for You
Sometimes, even with support, keeping your boxer may no longer be possible—and that’s okay. Surrendering your dog isn’t giving up. It’s doing what’s right for them when you no longer have the ability to provide the care they need.
At Carolina Boxer Rescue, we treat every surrender with compassion, dignity, and respect. We know this is a heartbreaking decision, and we are here to walk you through it—no judgment, no shame.
The Surrender Process: What to Expect
- Reach Out to Us
Start by contacting us via our website. Tell us about your boxer and your situation. We’re here to listen and help. - Complete a Surrender Form
This gives us key info about your dog—age, health, temperament, likes and dislikes. The more we know, the better we can find a foster or adoptive home that fits. - Evaluation and Placement
Our team will assess your dog’s needs and begin the process of matching them with a loving foster home. Your boxer will never be placed in a shelter. They will be loved and cared for as they await their forever home.
This Is an Act of Love
Surrendering your boxer doesn’t mean you failed—it means you chose their well-being over everything else. Whether you’re asking for help to keep your dog, or making the difficult decision to surrender, you’re doing it out of love.
At CBR, we’re here to offer you hope, help, and heart—every step of the way.
