The following dogs came into CBR to find Forever Homes, but as we got to know them and had them vetted it was determined that they had terminal issues. They are being loved and cared for by their foster homes for the remainder of their lives.

Hi friends, it’s Hoagie. I’ve been doing my best to be brave, enjoy my days, and soak up every bit of love my foster family gives me. Recently, we learned something important — I have an internal mass, and it’s time for me to move into hospice care.

I know that sounds sad, but here’s the truth: I’m still me. I’m still gentle, grateful, and full of love.

I’m not here to run marathons or chase tennis balls anymore. I’m here for the soft things — soft beds, soft voices, soft hands, soft hearts. I just want a quiet home where I can be cherished for however long I have.

💖 Daryl — A Brave Senior Boy Beginning His Hospice Journey 💛

At 14 years old, Daryl has entered hospice care with Carolina Boxer Rescue, where he will spend his days surrounded by comfort, kindness, and the gentle routines he loves. Due to back‑end paralysis, his body is slowing down, but his spirit remains soft, steady, and full of quiet gratitude.

Daryl is the kind of boy who doesn’t ask for much — just a cozy spot to rest, a calm home, and people who speak to him with warmth. He enjoys being close to his foster family, soaking in the simple moments: soft pets, peaceful afternoons, and knowing he is safe.

Even though his mobility is limited, his heart is wide open. He leans into affection, watches his people with those wise senior eyes, and seems to understand he’s finally in a place where he will be cherished for the rest of his life.

Hospice for Daryl isn’t about sadness — it’s about honoring him, giving him dignity, and making sure his final chapter is written with love. He will spend his remaining time being protected, celebrated, and treated like the treasured soul he has always been.

Daryl may be in his twilight years, but he is deeply loved… and that love will carry him the rest of the way.

This sweet old lady is entering hospice care, and all he wants is comfort, kindness, and a soft place to land. He’s gentle, grateful, and loves being close to his people. His body is slowing down, but his heart is still wide open. We’re making sure his final chapter is filled with love — exactly what he’s always deserved.

Bettie Jo is a resilient and affectionate dog estimated to be between 8 to 10 years old, weighing a gentle 37 pounds. Despite having faced more than her fair share of medical challenges, including numerous mammary masses, growths on her side, and a significant mass between her rectum and vulva—Bettie Jo’s spirit remains unbroken. She also faces significant arthritis in her hips and legs and could benefit from dental care, as she ideally needs every tooth in her mouth removed.
Bettie Jo truly special is her unwavering happiness and zest for life. She is remarkably active for her age and condition, and you’d never guess the pain she endures by watching her play. Her tail wags with joy, and her eyes light up especially when she’s around children. She adores every dog she meets, making her an ideal companion in multi-pet households and for families with kids.
Bettie Jo will be cared for in a compassionate home where she can spend her remaining days surrounded by love, comfort, and kindness. She is a true testament to resilience and joy, and she has so much affection to give in return for a soft bed and a caring hand.

Walker is a sweet 13-year-old foster dog placed in hospice care, surrounded by love and kind, caring people. Though his body may be slowing down, his spirit remains bright and full of gratitude. He thrives with gentle companionship in a calm, quiet home, a cozy bed with soft blankets, patient caregivers who respect his pace, and regular vet care with medications to keep him comfortable.

Luda, a gentle soul and a cherished member of the foster community, has spent ten remarkable years brightening the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know them. Recently, Luda has entered hospice care after being diagnosed with kidney disease—a development that brings both sadness and an opportunity to reflect on a life lived with resilience and love.

Nelson is an easy-going 13-year-old dog who is loved instantly by everyone he meets. With his gentle demeanor and friendly nature, he fits right in with his new pack siblings. Nelson will live out the rest of his days with his loving fospice family, enjoying the comfort and care he deserves. 🐾

Hi, I’m Russell! I’m a 9-ish-year-old boxer with a heart as big as my paws. Life hasn’t always been kind to me—my previous owners didn’t take care of me, and I was pretty neglected. But guess what? Things have turned around in the best way possible! I’m now a proud member of the Carolina Boxer Rescue family, and even though I’ve got some cancerous lumps, I’m not letting that slow me down. They’ve given me a special title: hospice foster. That just means I get to spend my golden years being spoiled rotten.
I’ve discovered that long walks are amazing, cozy naps are essential, and being an indoor dog is just the best. Even with my health challenges, I’ve got plenty of energy and a whole lot of love to give. Every day is a new adventure, and I’m making the most of every single moment. Treats, belly rubs, and snuggles? Yes, please!
My foster family is incredible. They make sure I’m surrounded by love and comfort, and they’re helping me live my best life. I’m soaking up all the happiness I can, and I’m so grateful for everyone who’s part of my journey.
