Directors Update for January – February 2026

Director’s Update – January

As we closed the door on 2025 and stepped into a brand new year, January reminded us exactly why this work matters — and how much it takes to keep saying “yes.”

We began the month with 38 dogs in our care. Over the course of January, we welcomed 27 new dogs into rescue. Thanks to our adopters, fosters, volunteers, and staff, 38 dogs found their forever homes. One beloved dog passed away while in our care — a heartbreaking reminder that rescue is not always easy, but always worth it.

The Reality of Rescue

Our veterinary expenses for January totaled nearly $26,000.

That number represents:

  • Emergency surgeries
  • Spay/neuter procedures
  • Diagnostics and specialty care
  • Preventative medicine
  • Ongoing treatment for dogs who needed a little (or a lot) of extra support

Behind every dollar is a life changed — and in many cases, saved.

Because of you, we never have to hesitate when a dog needs care.

Community Response

In January, we received:

  • 43 adoption applications
  • 7 foster applications
  • 37 volunteer applications

The continued interest in adopting and volunteering is incredibly encouraging. Every application represents someone raising their hand and saying, “I want to help.” That matters.

At the same time, as many of you know, the need for committed fosters remains one of our greatest challenges. Fosters are the bridge between rescue and forever — and we simply cannot save more lives without them.

February: Foster the Love

As we move into February, we are excited to launch the Foster the Love campaign.

This initiative shines a spotlight on the critical role foster homes play in saving lives. Throughout the month, we will:

  • Share stories from current fosters
  • Highlight the impact of short-term and long-term fostering
  • Provide simple ways for new families to get involved
  • Break down myths about fostering

If you’ve ever wondered whether fostering might be right for you — February is the perfect time to learn more.

Even one weekend. Even one dog. Even one “yes” can change everything.

Thank You

To our adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors, transport drivers, grant supporters, event attendees, and quiet monthly givers:

Thank you.

Your generosity covered nearly $26,000 in veterinary care this month alone.
Your time helped 38 dogs find homes.
Your belief in this mission keeps us moving forward — even on the hard days.

Rescue is never a solo effort. It is a community effort. And we are deeply grateful to be surrounded by this one.

Andrea
