Inside the Rescue – The Numbers

As we closed out April, we saw a slower fundraising month than we had hoped for. Like many rescues, our expenses continue to rise while donations can fluctuate from month to month. Even during quieter fundraising periods, the needs of the dogs in our care do not slow down — medical treatment, food, transportation, boarding, and daily care continue every single day.

In April alone, Carolina Boxer Rescue paid more than $24,000 in veterinary expenses to provide lifesaving and ongoing medical care for the dogs in our program. From emergency medical needs to routine care and treatment, these expenses are a critical part of giving our dogs the second chances they deserve.

Thanks to the continued support of our community, we were still able to provide care to boxers in need throughout the month. Every donation, share, volunteer hour, and act of support makes a direct impact and helps us continue saying “yes” to dogs who need us most.

As we move into the busy summer season, your support remains critical to helping us continue our mission. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who stands beside Carolina Boxer Rescue and the dogs we serve.

April Intake Update

April was another full and emotional month for our rescue team. We welcomed 16 new dogs into our program, including 6 from local shelters and 10 owner surrenders who needed safe landing places and a fresh start. Each intake represents a story, a transition, and a commitment to seeing them through to better days.

While we are grateful to be able to help so many in need, we also experienced loss this month, with 3 beloved dogs passing away. Every one of them was cared for and loved during their time with us, and they remain in our hearts as part of the CBR family.

On a brighter note, April also brought 14 successful adoptions, each one a reminder of why this work matters. Fourteen dogs are now settling into homes where they are wanted, loved, and finally where they belong.

As always, we are thankful for our fosters, volunteers, adopters, and supporters who make every intake, every goodbye, and every “gotcha day” possible.
